It was a good night for Padres’ farm system, as Padres minor league affiliates went 6-1 Friday night.
The evening was full of excitement, and featured five, one-run games. Here’s a rundown of the results and notable performances:
El Paso Chihuahuas (52-47) Lost 6-5
in a game that went down to the wire. Walker Lockett provided a solid, albeit unspectacular six-inning performance on Friday night, giving up three runs and five hits, with no walks. He was relieved by Eric Yardley who struggled over an inning and a third, surrendering three runs and eight hits. Sacramento led the 6-2 heading into the bottom of the eighth, but the Chihuahuas responded with three runs turning the game into an instant nail biter down the stretch. When all was said and done, Tyler Rogers was able to retire the Chihuahuas, and the game went into the win column for Sacramento.

San Antonio Missions (58-39) Won 11-10
in ten innings. Cal Quantrill struggled again, giving up three home runs, eight earned runs and four walks. Yet, he limited the damage in the fourth and fifth innings after a brutal start. Miguel Diaz picked up the win despite struggling a bit himself. Andres Munoz recorded his third save with a flawless tenth inning. Offensively, there were several standout performance for the Missions. Among them was the newly called-up Buddy Reed, who had a key two-run single. Ty France hit like a man possessed.

Lake Elsinore Storm (47-51) won 4-3
The Storm won in eleven innings on a walk-off hit by Jorge Ona. Lake Elsinore’s struggled offensively all night. However, they took advantage of errors, and scrapped their way into an extra inning struggle before succumbing to Modesto.

Ft. Wayne TinCaps game was canceled due to weather.
Tri-City Dust Devils (17-18) Won 4-1
Left handed pitcher Omar Cruz made his first start for Tri-City and was successful. The 19-year-old started the 2018 season in Arizona. Jordan Guerrero earned his third save of the year by striking out the side in the ninth. Olivier Basabe hit his third homer of the year for the Dust Devils.

AZL Padres 1 (9-14) Won 4-3
Xavier Edwards stole his seventh base of the year and is now hitting .429 on the year. He made the start as the teams DH, but he has shown promise at short in his limited time in Arizona. Carlos Luis had two hits in the victory. Jefferson Garcia earned the win and Tom Colletti earned the save for the Padres.

Blinger Perez hit a solo shot in the ninth inning to walkoff the game. Perez is a former catcher who is now playing corner outfield in the system. Mason Fox earned the win, pitching the last two innings of the game.

DSL Padres (23-17) won 8-3
The DSL Padres scored five in the first and never looked back. Eudi Asuncio earned the win, his fourth of the year. His ERA is down to 3.89 on the year. The DSL team only managed six hits on the day but they walked 13 times in the game.
