The minor league affiliates for the San Diego Padres went 4-4 on Monday.

Here’s a recap of the day’s action.

El Paso Chihuahuas (45-39) Won 6-1

Chris Huffman made his third start since coming off the 7-day disabled list. He was pulled after five innings and throwing only 78 pitches as I’m sure they were watching his pitch count. Huffman’s ERA sits at 6.71 on the year. Kyle McGrath lowered his ERA to 3.03 with two scoreless innings of relief. Forrestt Allday led off and played center field, he notched two hits and stole two bases. Allen Craig had two hits in four at bats to push his slash line to .300/.366/.505 in the Pacific Coast League. Diego Goris hit his 6th home run on the season. Javy Guerra had a single in four at bats with a strikeout and is now hitting .195/.231/.347 in 268 plate appearances.

San Antonio Missions (47-34) Lost 8-3

Fernando Tatis Jr. hit his 15th home run on the season, which accounted for the Missions only runs of the game. Tatis now has four home runs in eight games to begin the second half of the season, with three in his last two starts. He also stole his 14th base in 18 attempts. Josh Naylor has three home runs since the start of May, he hit 7 in April. Ty France, Austin Allen, and Nick Schulz each went hitless in four at bats with two strikeouts. Michael Gettys got the day off. Cal Quantrill didn’t have his best outing as he allowed four runs in each of the 1st and 4th innings. His ERA ballooned to 4.52 on the year. Quantrill has now allowed four earned runs in each of his last three starts. Andres Munoz made his second appearance with San Antonio. Eric Yardley pitched a scoreless inning allowing only one hit.

Lake Elsinore Storm (38-44) Won 10-5

Edward Olivares hit lead off and tripled twice (7). Eguy Rosario homered twice (8) and drove in five runs. Buddy Reed continues to rake as he logged two more hits, both singles. Reed was caught stealing for the 7th time this season. Hudson Potts struggled as he went hitless in five at bats and struck out once. Luis Torrens doubled and scored a run in four plate appearances. Torrens allowed his 15th passed ball behind the plate. Allen Cordoba continues to scuffle as he struck out three times in four plate appearances. Cordoba has struck out 24 times in 53 plate appearances since coming off the disabled list (concussion). After allowing one run over seven appearances with Tri-City, Carter Capps made his first appearance with Lake Elsinore this year.

Fort Wayne TinCaps (40-41) Won 11-3

The only two players in the TinCaps lineup to not record a hit were Gabriel Arias and Luis Almanzar. Jeisson Rosario hit first and scored a run, he also singled and walked in four at bats. Robbie Podorsky, the Padres 25th round pick in 2017, is sporting a .396 OBP in 137 plate appearances in the Midwest League. Luis Campusano is also a 2017 draftee and was taken in the 2nd round. He is currently slashing .287/.357/.368. Esteury Ruiz was acquired from the Kansas City Royals before the trade deadline last year. He stole two bases which brings his total to 26 on the season. He’s been caught eight times. Juan Fenandez recorded his 12th double on the season. Aaron Leasher allowed eight base runners in five innings, but lowered his ERA to 2.59. Tirso Ornelas got the night off, Jack Suwinski took over in right and batted 9th.

Tri-City Dust Devils (9-9) Lost 4-2

Owen Miller (2018 3rd Round Pick) has a 7-game hitting streak and is slashing .315/.359/.452 in 18 games for Tri-City. Grant Little (2018 Competitive Balance) played in his second professional game and played center field. He doubled and drove in a run. Blake Hunt (2017 Competitive Balance) had a rough day as he went hitless in four at bats and struck out twice. Hunt owns a .455 OBP in 14 games. Michael Curry (2018 16th Round) singled in four at bats. He has a .373 OBP in 13 games. Mason House (2017 3rd Round) was held without a hit in three at bats. Reinaldo Ilarraza struck out twice in three at bats and owns a .266 OBP in 39 games.

Ruddy Giron led off and played shortstop, he now owns a 5-game hitting streak. Jawuan Harris (2018 7th Round) played center field and went hitless in five at bats. Nick Gatewood (2018 11th Round) served as the designated hitter, he singled and walked in five plate appearances. Lee Solomon (2018 25th Round) played second base and now owns a .459 OBP in nine games. Jaquez Williams (2016 18th Round) played left field and struck out twice in three at bats.

Tucupita Marcano is playing shortstop and getting on-base at just over a .500 clip in 12 games with the AZL Padres. Jonny Homza (2017 5th Round) played third base and doubled in four at bats. Jason Pineda (2017 17th Round) played first base and went hitless in five at bats, his batting average still sits at .400. Alison Quintero was behind the plate and reached base in three of five plate appearances. Jordy Barley played second base and doubled twice. Joey Cantillo (2017 16th Round) started and went four scoreless innings.

DSL Padres (15-11) Lost 6-5 in 10 innings.

The Padres Dominican team mashed eleven hits and six of their starting position players each reached base safely at least twice. Despite the offensive firepower, the Padres fell to the Orioles in 10 innings. Down 5-4 in the bottom of the 9th, Brandon Valenzuela walked with one out in the inning. Juan Garcia entered the game as a pinch runner and scored on a fly ball single to center by Cristian Heredia. Jorge Leo came in to pitch the 10th inning with Hector Vizcaino on second base for the Orioles because of the new extra innings rule. Leo struck out three of the four batters he faced, only giving up a single which scored the winning run.
