The San Diego Padres were on 2-3 Friday.

Here is a recap of the day’s action.

El Paso Chihuahuas (81-55) Won 7-6

Ty France hit a two-out bottom of the ninth walk-off double tonight to cap a furious late inning El Paso comeback as the Chihuahua’s win 8-7. Starter Walter Lockett went 4+ innings in which he gave up five hits and walked one, allowing six runs with three of them being earned. The door was closed after that however with stellar relief work turned in by Weir and Wieck who combined for 4+ shutout innings. Brad Wieck stuck out six of the eight batters he faced. Ty France had a great month of August – slashing .289/.375/.566/.941 . It seems clear that France will soon get a look at the major league level and it will be interesting to see what he can do. Manager Rod Barajas got tossed tonight in the eighth which may have in some small way sparked the four run uprising in the ninth.

San Antonio could not muster much offense, collecting only six hits and losing 4-1. The Missions did get a good night with the bat from Buddy Reed who went three for four with his first Double-A home run. Emmanuel Ramirez was the starter and loser for the Missions, going seven innings and giving up eight hits and four runs, while walking two and striking out four. Austin Allen also went 2-for-4 with a double and it looks like he will keep his SLG% over the .500 mark, quite an achievement for a catcher in playing half of his games in the pitching friendly Wolff Stadium.

Buddy Reed– (3-4) HR, RBI, Run

Austin Allen– (2-4) 2B, K

Michael Gettys– (0-3) 3 K

Lake Elsinore Storm (65-72) Won 3-2

Nick Margevicius pitched seven quality frames and Edward Olivares continued his torrid hitting, as Lake Elsinore bested Lancaster 3-2. Luis Guzman doubled on a line drive to center that scored A.J. Kennedy in the ninth inning for the walk-off win. Brad Zunica went 2-for 4 as the Storm recorded 10 hits on the night. The Storm are in the midst of a four-game homestand to end the 2018 season. Get out there if you can.

  1. Haven’t seen Tucupita’s name lately, is he hurt or just having a rough stretch? And that Edwards pick looks like a great choice by Preller and Co.. This system is insane!
