The San Diego Padres’ affiliates went 3-1 on Saturday. Only the Lake Elsinore Storm lost.

Here is a recap of the day’s action:

Fort Wayne TinCaps (5-11) Won 8-2

The TinCaps beat the second place Dayton Dragons (9-4) by the score of 8-2 behind the fine pitching effort of Osvaldo Hernandez. The Cuban left-handed pitcher gets lost in the ranks, but is very effective and still only 19 years old presently (he’ll be 20 next month). Hernandez was followed, in the game, by Ben Sheckler, who threw three innings and only allowed one unearned run to score. There were plenty of hitting stars on the day for the TinCaps as Jeisson Rosario, Esteury Ruiz, and Tirso Ornelas all had multiple hits. Ruiz and Ornelas went deep as Fort Wayne stole a total of five bases in the contest. As the weather heats up in Indiana, so could these young Padres prospects. Their record should get better in time.

Osvaldo Hernandez– (Win) 5 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 6 K (86 pitches-54 strikes)

Jeisson Rosario– (2-3) 3 Runs, RBI, BB, 2 SB

Esteury Ruiz– (3-5) HR, 2 Runs, 2 RBI, 2 K, 2 SB

Tirso Ornelas– (3-4) HR, 3 RBI, Run, BB

Ben Sheckler– 3 IP, 3 H, 2 K (54 pitches-33 strikes)

Lake Elsinore Storm (7-10) Lost 10-5

A seven-run seventh inning was the downfall for the Storm on Saturday night in Rancho Cucamonga. The Quakes got to Blake Rogers and David Bednar in the inning, as the duo allowed six earned runs on only one hit. Five combined walks was an issue for the two relievers on the night. All was not bad for Lake Elsinore though, as Hudson Potts had an awesome night at the plate, going 4-for-4 with three extra base hits. Marcus Greene Jr. also homered and Edward Olivares recorded two hits from the top of the order.

Edward Olivares– (2-5) 3b, Run

Buddy Reed– (1-5) Run, RBI, 2 K

Hudson Potts– (4-4) HR, 2 2b, 2 RBI, Run

Marcus Greene Jr.- (2-4) HR, 2 RBI, Run K

Ronald Bolanos– 5 IP, 5 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 3 K (81 pitches- 48 strikes)

San Antonio Missions (9-6) Won 11-8

The Missions are on the road in Midland, Texas and were able to pull out a victory on Saturday against the RockHounds. Jesse Scholtens got the ball and went five strong innings for San Antonio. Jason Jester and Brad Wieck followed the pitcher out of the pen and were effective. Rowan Wick was knocked around a bit in the ninth, allowing four earned runs to Midland. He was replaced by Jose Castillo, who recorded his first save of the year, getting the final three outs. Rod Boykin, Austin Allen, and Kyle Overstreet all homered in the road win for San Antonio.

Jesse Scholtens– 5 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 7 K (96 pitches- 57 strikes)

Fernando Tatis Jr.– (1-5) 2b, Run, RBI

Rod Boykin– (2-5) HR, 2b, 2 RBI, Run, 2 K

Kyle Overstreet– (2-5) HR, 2 RBI, 2 Run, 2 K

Austin Allen– (2-4) HR, 2 RBI, 2 Runs, BB

El Paso Chihuahuas (12-5) Won 13-4

The Chihuahuas topped off a great offensive night with a seven-run ninth, in a victory over Las Vegas on Saturday. Franmil Reyes went deep for the fourth time on the year, and Walker Lockett was a star on the mound as well as with the bat. The pitcher hit a three-run homer in the second inning with two outs to give El Paso a 4-1 lead. Lockett was able to throw six solid innings in earning the victory. Travis Jankowski, Luis Urias, Raffy Lopez, Diego Goris, Javier Guerra, and Brett Nicholas all had multiple hits. Buddy Baumann pitched a scoreless inning and has yet to give up a run in Triple-A.

Raffy Lopez- (3-4) 2 Runs, BB

Luis Urias– (2-5) 2 RBI, Run, BB, 2 K

Brett Nicholas- (2-6) 2 RBI, 2 K

Javier Guerra- (2-5) 2b, 3 Runs, 3 RBI,
