San Diego Padres affiliates went 3-4 on Thursday.

El Paso Chihuahuas (66-50) Lost 12-11
El Paso lost a slugfest at home on Thursday by the score of 12-11. The Chihuahuas rallied for two runs in the 9th, but fell short as Boog Powell struck out swinging to end the game. The pitching staff was roughed up as the bullpen allowed six runs to score. Newly acquired Carl Edwards Jr. allowed three runs and was awarded the lossafter allowing three runs to score in the top of the 9th inning. Catcher Webster Rivas, known for his defense, went 4-for-5 with two homers and two doubles on his birthday. Rivas is hitting .337 since being promoted to triple-A a few weeks ago. Austin Allen started at DH and went 3-for-5. He has a .957 OPS so far this year in the PCL.

Amarillo Sod Poodles (62-52) Lost 3-1
Amarillo only managed two hits in a 3-1 loss to the Frisco RoughRiders. Jess Scholtens pitched well but earned his 6th loss of the season for the Soddies. He allowed three earned runs in 6 2/3 innings pitched. He has a 5.56 ERA on the season in the Texas League. A.J. Kennedy provided the only run with a solo home run in the 9th inning off Jacob Lemoine. Taylor Trammell went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts and now has a .188 batting average with Amarillo.

Lake Elsinore Storm (59-56)
Fort Wayne TinCaps (53-61) Won 6-2
Fort Wayne got four runs in the 6th inning, and that was enough to beat Dayton by the score of 6-2 on Thursday. The TinCaps knocked out only eight hits in the game, but three Dayton errors opened the flood gates for the Padres Single-A affiliate. Efrain Contreras started and only allowed four base runners in five innings pitched. Jose Quezeda relieved Contreras and earned the win pitching two scoreless innings. Quezeda is now 6-2 on the season with a 2.12 ERA. Lee Solomon homered out of the #9 spot in the lineup in a 2-for-3 game at the plate.

Tri-City Dust Devils (23-28) Lost 7-6
Tri-City dropped a close game to the Spokane Indians on Thursday by the score of 7-6. Spokane walked-off in the 9th as Tom Colletti and Deivy Mendez could not preserve a one-run lead. Jason Blanchard started the game, and the lefty went three scoreless innings. Logan Driscoll and Nick Gatewood both homered in the loss for Tri-City. Matthew Acosta went 2-for-3 and is hitting .297 in his last ten games.

AZL Padres 1 (24-16) Won 14-2
The AZL Padres 1 team recorded 16 hits in a 14-2 win over the AZL Mariners team. Three hitters earned three hits apiece, while two others had a multiple-hit effort on the night. Tirso Ornelas went 3-for-6 with 2 RBIs, and Michael Suarez went 3-for-5 with three RBIs. Noel Vela started the game and the 20-year-old went two innings, allowing two earned runs. Laurbert Arias continues to show a lot of promise. The 18-year-old from Venezuela has great size (6-foot-2) a decent fastball (92 mph+) and has recorded a 3.44 ERA in eight games.

AZL Padres 2 (28-13) Lost 5-1
The AZL Padres 2 team lost to the AZL Giants Orange team by the score of 5-1. Four runs in the 5th inning were the difference in this one for the Padres. Jeferson Garcia allowed all four runs to score as he failed to get out of the 5th inning. Garcia is now 2-3 on the season with a 6.69 ERA. The Padres totaled 11 hits in the game but were 2-for-10 with runners in scoring position on the night. Ripken Reyes (USD Baseball) went 2-for-4 with a double. He has a .858 OPS so far this season in Peoria. 18-year-old Angel Solarte also doubled in a 2-for-4 effort at the plate.

DSL Padres (27-30) Won 10-7
The DSL Padres survived five late runs from the DSL Reds to win a 10-7 game on Thursday. 22-year-old Abismael Paulino started the game and earned the win pitching six innings for the Padres. He is now 2-3 on the season with a 2.86 ERA. 17-year-old Eduard Hidalgo homered in a 4-for-5 game at the plate. He is hitting .355 in his last ten games and just turned 17 in May. The left-handed hitter now has a .735 OPS on the season. Catcher Alex Ramirez hit his third home run of the year in the win.
