The Tijuana Xolos made their second signing of the transfer window by signing 25-year-old winger Leonel Miranda from Argentine club Defensa y Justicia.

The Xolos’ first signing ahead of the 2019 Apertura season had been centre-back Jordan Silva from Toluca, and now Oscar Pareja made a move to bolster his attack.

Miranda had been playing with Defensa y Justicia since 2016, and he made over 70 appearances with the club in his three-year tenure. The Avellaneda native began his career in 2012 with Independiente, and he stayed with his hometown team until 2016.

Miranda then made a move to the MLS with the Houston Dynamo, where he scored three goals in 32 appearances from 2015-2016. Xolos’ manager Oscar Pareja previously coached FC Dallas in the MLS and will be very familiar with “Lolo.”

The Aztec Canines already have a plethora of attacking wingers like Miller Bolanos, Fabian Castillo, Eryc Castillo, and Jesus Angulo. However, Eryc Castillo has been disappointing, and it does not hurt to have another attacking option in case of any injuries or transfers that may happen.

“Lolo” stands in at 5-foot-7 and is a technically gifted player that is capable of adapting to the Liga MX. However, it is always hit, or miss with players that have never played in Mexico’s top-flight league and his transition may not be easy.

Club Tijuana will be busy in the next couple of weeks with transfers as the annual meeting between all the team owners in the Liga MX is already underway. Some players that are heavily rumored to leave the Xoloitzcuintles include key attacking players like Miller Bolanos and Gustavo Bou.
