Peoria beat Salt River 5-4 on Monday, as the Javelinas continue their winning ways.

There was limited action on the day as both the Dominican and Mexican leagues had the day off.

Two more winter leagues will begin on Wednesday, as both the Australian league and Puerto Rican league begin play. Michael Gettys is in Australia and there are sure to be a few prospects playing on the island of Puerto Rico. We will keep you posted.

Here is a recap of the day’s action:

Arizona Fall League

Hudson Potts–  (2-5) 2 K, CS

The young third baseman continues to have success in Arizona playing against older players. He is hitting .247 and showing decent pop with the bat. His defense has also improved after a rough start. Potts has a great ability to adjust, and that bodes well for his future.

Buddy Reed– (0-4) BB, 2 K

Buddy Reed is really starting to figure out that less is more in the game of baseball. He has calmed his swing and is putting the ball in play more often. The result is a productive top-of-the-order-type of player that is exciting to watch. He is hitting .344 on the year despite going 0-for-4 on Monday.

Travis Radke– 3 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, K (43 pitches/28 strikes)

Left-handed reliever Travis Radke has been pitching well in the desert and could be a relief option eventually for the Padres. He does not throw hard, but pitches aggressively and gets hitters off-balance consistently. He owns a 2.81 ERA so far this season.

Miguel Diaz– 3 IP, 1 H, BB, 3 K (41 pitches/27 strikes)

The hard-throwing, right-handed pitcher was an all-star this season in the AFL. Diaz had a rough start his last time out, but rebounded with three scoreless innings on Monday lowering his ERA to 4.87 on the year.

Edward Olivares– (1-3) 2 BB, K

With the Rule 5 draft coming in a matter of weeks, Olivares continues to hit well in Venezuela. He is at .352 for the year and is playing all three outfield spots on a consistent basis. Olivares has put on a ton of weight since being acquired by the Padres and could be a late-bloomer.
