The Tijuana Xolos will host second-division team Dorados de Sinaloa at the Estadio Caliente this Friday, Oct. 12, 2018, for a friendly match. The team from Culiacan is owned by Grupo Caliente and Jorgealberto Hank and works as an affiliate to Club Tijuana as both teams do exchange players often.
Dorados is currently in the spotlight and has been receiving much more attention than the Xoloitzcuintles due to its high-profile manager Diego Maradona. Yes, the legendary Argentine player has been in charge of El Gran Pez for a little over a month.
Since Maradona’s arrival in Sinaloa, Dorados has been thriving after a very rough start to the Ascesno MX season. Los Sinaloenses are now in a playoff position after scoring just three goals and accumulating three points in seven games before Maradona’s appointment.
This Thursday, Dorados had an open training session led by the Argentine icon at the Estadio Caliente ahead of Friday’s game. Maradona did attend the media after the training session and had some interesting insights to share on a few different topics.
“El Diez” talked about his friendship with former Xolos’ manager Antonio Mohamed and with former Chivas’ boss Matias Almeyda. Maradona said, “Turco always said good things about Tijuana” and also said, “He’s (Mohamed) one of the people that calls me constantly to talk about Mexican soccer, same as Pelado Almeyda.”
The former World Cup hero also talked about Friday’s match against the Xolos at the Estadio Caliente. Maradona said, “ This game against (Diego Cocca) will help us to regulate players that don’t usually play and also to switch up tactics from the first half and the second half.” “It will help these players get rid of their fears.”

Finally, the Argentine boss did say that Mexico has treated him “marvelously” and also gave a message to immigrants. Maradona said, “I would tell them that unfortunately there is not much we can do and it seems like war has beaten the hunger.”
It should be interesting to see how this Maradona led team fares against a first-division side and how Diego Cocca and the Xolos handle this encounter.
